Hasanuddin University Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Policy

Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) is strongly committed to promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and prohibiting all forms of discrimination, violence, and intolerance across its entire academic ecosystem. This comprehensive commitment is strictly regulated through Academic Senate Regulations that bind all members of the university community, including both academic staff and students.

For academic staff, Academic Senate Regulation Number 469124/UN.4/IT.03/2016 concerning the Code of Ethics for Lecturers of Hasanuddin University (Article 11) explicitly mandates that every lecturer must uphold principles of equality and pluralism and refrain from discrimination based on any criteria, including race, ethnicity, religion, social group, gender, marital status, age, disability, and sexual orientation. This is reinforced by Article 3 Paragraph 1, which obligates lecturers to act fairly, professionally, transparently, faithfully, and in a non-discriminatory manner in executing their duties and responsibilities.

For students, this commitment is established in Academic Senate Regulation Number 00002/UN4.2/2026 concerning Student Affairs Policy of Hasanuddin University (Chapter XIII Prohibitions and Sanctions, Article 25). Pursuant to Article 25 Paragraphs 1 and 2, students are strictly prohibited from engaging in acts that violate the law, academic ethics, and human values, which include:

• Gender-, sexual-, ethnic-, religious-, and race-based violence;
• Physical, verbal, or digital bullying;
• Discrimination and intolerance;
• Radicalism and extremism; and
• Abuse of narcotics, narcotic precursors, and psychotropic substances.

Under Article 25 Paragraph 3, UNHAS explicitly enforces a zero-tolerance policy against all forms of sexual violence, bullying, intolerance, radicalism, and any actions that undermine human values and academic dignity. Through this comprehensive legal framework, UNHAS guarantees a safe, inclusive, fair, and welcoming campus environment for the entire academic community.
